How did the leading compute cloud providers build their infrastructure management tools? What generic foundation might they have built to achieve the reliability, agility and economics they offer? This talk will address the generic requirements faced by those wishing to be internal or public cloud providers. The significant focus will be on how to approach managing the physical hardware infrastructure, networking and storage that underpins any native or virtual environment. Finally, we will touch upon impacts on IT-OPS/ITSM processes, and how they fit into this new shared and automated infrastructure.
Speaker Bio:
Ken Oestreich is VP with Egenera, and has spent over 20 years developing and introducing new products into new markets. Recently, he’s been involved in bringing utility- and cloud-computing technologies to market. Previously, he was with Cassatt, and held a number of developer, alliance and strategy positions with Sun Microsystems.
